Wrexham have finalized the capture of Crystal Palace full-back Danny Imray on a contract lasting four years.
The 23-year-old utility defender, capable of filling in at right wing-back, has become the Welsh club’s inaugural acquisition of the current transfer window.
Imray spent the previous campaign on loan arrangements with both Blackpool and West Bromwich Albion.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson expressed his satisfaction at securing Imray’s signature, noting the defender’s remarkable progression from non-league football to the top tier and his considerable upside as a developing player.
Parkinson revealed that Imray linked up with the squad during their North American tour, joining forces ahead of their pre-season encounter with Liverpool at Yankee Stadium on Thursday morning.
The former Chelmsford City player arrived at Selhurst Park from his hometown club in 2021 but was immediately dispatched back to the National League side on a temporary basis.
Imray accumulated 43 appearances across all competitions, finding the net twice, during an extended loan spell at Bromley spanning the 2024-25 season.
The right-back subsequently moved to League One outfit Blackpool for the opening portion of the 2025-26 term before transitioning to Championship company West Brom in January.
He made 17 appearances in total for the Baggies, which included a 2-2 stalemate against Wrexham at The Hawthorns last April.
Imray explained his reasoning for choosing Wrexham, highlighting the club’s clear progression and professional environment. He cited his familiarity with the documentary series and emphasized that the club harbours ambitions both on and off the pitch. The player also noted the significance the supporters hold for the organisation and mentioned discussions with the manager regarding the club’s exciting future plans.
Parkinson’s side secured a 3-2 friendly triumph over Premier League opponents Leeds United in Florida following their New York fixture.
Despite overseeing 13 new arrivals last summer after achieving automatic promotion from League Three, Parkinson insisted he does not anticipate major upheaval to his roster heading into the 2026-27 season.
Nevertheless, the manager acknowledged that additions in goal, central defence, midfield and attack remain possibilities beyond the Imray acquisition.
Parkinson stated that the coaching staff have identified specific areas requiring strengthening and are working diligently to address them. He acknowledged that the timeline may prompt questions, attributing delays partly to several transfer targets being contracted to Premier League clubs whose squads have been depleted by international tournament commitments.
