Monaco have turned down a verbal approach from Crystal Palace for midfielder Lamine Camara.
The 22-year-old Senegal international was reportedly offered more than £35m, a sum that would have ranked among the biggest investments in the London club’s history.
Camara has collected 49 caps for his nation and participated in this year’s global tournament.
He arrived at Monaco from Metz in 2024 after developing his skills through various acclaimed youth systems in Senegal. The transfer was reportedly arranged for 15m euros (£12.8m).
This summer has seen Palace complete four acquisitions, securing striker Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa, bringing in winger Dwight McNeil from Everton as part of a player exchange that included Brennan Johnson moving in the opposite direction, and signing former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu on a free earlier this week.
These additions followed the capture of Oscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo by Palace’s new head coach Pierre Sage, who took over from Oliver Glasner during the close season. Glasner has since moved to Nottingham Forest.
The south London club will complete their warm-up schedule with a fixture in Freiburg before beginning their top-flight season at Everton on Saturday, 22 August.
